The remains of the Stadium of Domitian, today the underground of Piazza Navona and one of the seven wonders of Imperial Rome (declared by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site), are located about 4.50 meters below street level. The archaeological area is what remains of the first and only example of a masonry stadium known to date in Rome, after the temporary experiences built in wood by Caesar and Augustus, and is one of the rare testimonies, along with that of Pozzuoli, so far known outside Greece and the eastern area.
